Eskridge Estates—the first new housing development in Wellston in decades—was created by the Community Impact Network’s Equity Homes to give residents a stronger financial foundation and help the community grow. To understand its impact, the Community Impact Network partnered with Civic Insight to study how new homeowners were doing before and after moving in, and to compare their progress with other Wellston residents. This analysis helps show whether the development is meeting its goals of strengthening financial stability and creating new opportunities for the community.

After decades of national focus on science and research funding, the James S. McDonnel Foundation decided to refocus its resources on St. Louis. Through this partnership, we utilized Ignite data to analyze the financial health of people across the St. Louis region to identify which groups were most at risk, where needs were greatest, and where new opportunities could make a lasting impact. This analysis gave the Foundation’s board a verifiable understanding of the obstacles and opportunities in the region, allowing for more focused efforts and strategic planning.
